Bought by Sir Richard Branson in 1998 during one of his famous ballooning expeditions, Kasbah Tamadot is set at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, one hour’s drive from Marrakech, Morocco.

The Kasbah has 24 bedrooms and suites including six luxury Berber Tented Suites. All are individually decorated using traditional Moroccan furnishings and antiques, as well as items from the vast collection of Luciano Tempo, Kasbah Tamadot’s former owner. As a renowned antiques dealer and interior designer, Luciano brought together artefacts from all over the world, many of which feature in the bedrooms. Each room has a uniquely descriptive Berber name which tells you something about it.

With its intimate fireside bar and breathtaking terrace views, the stunning Kanoun Restaurant serves delicious local and international cuisine. The food combines local and international flavours, with home grown herbs and vegetables from the Kasbah Tamadot gardens. Dine al fresco around the candle lit reflecting pool, up on the rooftop terrace underneath the stars or somewhere private just for two!

Relaxation is certainly on the agenda when visiting Kasbah Tamadot. Take a dip in the indoor or outdoor infinity pool or work up an appetite playing tennis, table tennis or working out in the gym. For a much slower pace indulge in a spa treatment or traditional Moroccan Hammam, meander around the fragrant gardens, curl up in front of the fireplace in the salon or star gaze through the telescope.
Prices from £310 per room per night.
‘Here in these spacious palm groves rising from the desert the traveller can be sure of perennial sunshine, of every comfort and diversion, and can contemplate with ceaseless satisfaction the stately and snow-clad panorama of the Atlas Mountains.’
Winston Churchill
