Rhino, Rovos Rail Durban Safari Durban

Durban Safari - this three-day safari in the heart of the African Bush departs during the summer months. The train departs Pretoria and slowly meanders eastwards through the grasslands of the Highveld, then descend the escarpment between Belfast and Waterval Onder. Awake in Malelane for breakfast as the train travels along the boundary of the world-famous Kruger Park. Continue south towards Swaziland for an afternoon game drive in the Mkhaya Game Reserve. Travel overnight to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve in Zululand, sanctuary of the endangered Black and White Rhino. Enjoy an early morning game drive during which a large variety of game can be seen. The train departs mid morning and winds its way through the lush cane fields and rolling hills of KwaZulu Natal, to arrive in Durban by late afternoon.


    Pretoria to Durban
 Friday    
 1000 hours:   Depart Capital Park Station, Pretoria aboard the 'Pride of Africa'.
 1830 hours:   After descending the spectacular Drakensberg Escarpment the train arrives in Waterval Onder.
     
 Saturday
 0700 hours:   Breakfast is served as the train departs Malelane travelling along the border of the Kruger Park.
 1230 hours:   Lunch is served as we pass through the Swaziland border en route to Mpaka Station.
 1500 hours:   Arrive Mkhaya Game Reserve for the afternoon game drive.
 1815 hours:   The train departs for the overnight journey to Hluhluwe in Zululand.
     
 Sunday
 0500 hours:   Wake up call for an early morning game drive in Hluhluwe Game Reserve, home of the black and white rhino.
 0930 hours:   Depart for Durban
 1100 hours:   Brunch is served in the Dining Car.
 1800 hours:   Arrive Durban.
     


    Durban to Pretoria
 Monday    
 1000 hours:   The 'Pride of Africa' departs from Durban Station.
 1300 hours:   Lunch is served as the train passes through the rolling hills and cane fields of Kwazulu Natal.
 2000 hours:   Dinner is served in the Dining Car as we pass through the Swaziland border.
     
 Tuesday
 0500 hours:   Wake up call for an early game drive in the Mkhaya Game Reserve.
 0930 hours:   The train departs for Komatipoort.
 1100 hours:   Brunch is served in the Dining Car(s).
 1515 hours:   Arrive Malelane for game drive in the Kruger Park Game Reserve followed by a Boma dinner.
     
 Wednesday
 0700 hours:   Breakfast is served as the train begins the ascent from Waterval Onder (4300 feet) and climbs this most attractive escarpment route up to Belfast at 6463 feet.
 1230 hours:   Lunch is served as the train departs Witbank and heads for Rayton where a steam engine will haul the train into Pretoria.
 1500 hours:   Arrive at Rovos Rail's Capital Park Station, Pretoria.
