ANNUAL JOURNEYS
- Cape Town to Dar es Salaam (6100 km) 14 day Edwardian safari is operated every year in July travelling through South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania via Kimberly, Pretoria, the Kruger National Park, Belt Bridge, Bulawayo, Victoria Falls and Lusaka. The journey is characterised by various off-train excursions and is one of the most famous train journeys in the world.
ACCOMMODATION
Pullman, Deluxe or Luxury Suites can accommodate up to 2 people in either double or twin beds with air conditioning, writing desk, personal safe and fridge-bar filled with drinks of passengers choice and room service is available 24 hours a day. Bathrooms have a hairdryer and shaver point.
ROOMS
Pullman Suites (7 square metres) are equipped with a sofa-seat during the day which converts to either a double or bunk beds for the evening. They have an ensuite shower room. The Deluxe Suites (11 square metres) have a lounge area and an ensuite shower room. The Royal Suites (16 square metres) have a private lounge area and full bathroom with Victorian bath and separate shower.
In keeping with the spirit of travel of a bygone era there are no radios or TVs on board.
TRAIN FACILITIES
- Two 42 seat Dining Cars serving traditional cuisine using fresh local ingredients (formal evening attire for dinner)
- Small Lounge for smokers next to Observation Car
- Observation Car non-smoking, the last car of the train seating 32
- When numbers dictate, a non-smoking Lounge Car with gift shop at the centre of the train
