JACKS VISIT TO EURODISNEY NOVEMBER 2008

TRIP SUMMARY When I heard that Disneyland Paris was where my girlfriend wanted to go for her birthday I must admit that I was sceptical. After all, it’s somewhere you go with young children - right? Well...actually not! Although young children are certainly a prominent feature of the resort there is a lot for adults. The Disneyland Hotel features its very own Spa and fitness centre as well as a good standard of restaurant. The park itself offers many rides - the main two being the now famous Aerosmith rollercoaster and Space Mountain. During my visit I stayed at The Disneyland Hotel, which is the hotel situated at the Parks entrance. Although the £300 a night price tag is steep it is certainly the nicest option. The hotel is of a high standard and very elegantly presented with a beautifully picturesque lobby and grand staircase. Even if you do not stay here, afternoon tea in the tea room is a must! Another feature which comes with the Disneyland Hotel is the "Character Breakfast". This is where the Disney characters walk around the breakfast restaurant taking photos with the children and causing general mischief! If you see Goofy tell him that I will be back and I will be looking for him! There are 6 other themed hotels in the resort but they are all a 10 minute walk away from the park entrance. In the park, as well as the rides, you have live shows and parades throughout the day which are brilliantly crafted and quite a spectical! Be sure to take your camera for these. What Disneyland has done very well is cater for all age groups. All in all you need to take Disneyland for what it is and you do need to keep an open mind but no one can deny that it is good fun. I travelled by Eurostar in Leisure Select from Ashford directly into Disneyland’s own station; Marne Vallee. The whole experience was very pleasant, relaxing and easy! Leisure Select on Eurostar is the same as their business class service minus the express check in and executive lounge. So you get a bigger, more comfortable seat and you get a 3 course meal served to your table. A return ticket in Leisure Select will cost approximately £200 but again it is worth doing. 2 days and 3 nights is a perfectly adequate time period to stay. |
