Experience a taste of India on this outstanding introductory tour of the country's most famous sights. Exploring the 'Golden Triangle', this journey combines a stay in the Indian capital of New Delhi, with visits to the incomparable Taj Mahal at Agra and the 'Pink City' of Jaipur in Rajasthan and a stay at a former royal retreat in Rajasthan.

Day 1 to Delhi: Overnight flight from London to Delhi with Jet Airways. (No meals)

Day 2 Delhi: Arrival in Delhi and transfer to the Intercontinental Eros Hotel or similar for 1 night. Afternoon tour of Old Delhi including the Red Fort, Jama Masjid Mosque and Raj Ghat. (No meals)

Day 3 To Agra: Morning tour of New Delhi, including India Gate and the former Viceregal Residence - both fine examples of British Imperial architecture. Continue to the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun and the Qutb Minar tower. Afternoon drive to Agra and stay for 2 nights at the Mughal Sheraton Hotel or similar. (Breakfast)

Day 4 Agra: Early morning visit to the Taj Mahal in time for sunrise. After breakfast, visit the tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah and Agra Fort. Optional evening excursion to view the Taj Mahal at sunset (payable locally). (Breakfast)

Day 5 To Lal Mahal Palace: Morning drive to the deserted sandstone city of Fatehpur Sikri. Continue to the former hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Jaipur, the Lal Majal Palace, for an overnight stay at the de luxe Royal Camp. Evening gala dinner. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 6 Jaipur: Optional morning village exploration or elephant back safari. After lunch, take a short drive to the ancient fort palace of Amber. Explore the fort and continue to the 'Pink City' of Jaipur. Stay for 2 nights at the Rajputana Sheraton Hotel. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 7 Jaipur: Morning visit to the City Palace, home of the present Maharaja. Afternoon at leisure to relax or explore Jaipur's many bazaars. (Breakfast)

Day 8 to Delhi: Drive to Delhi via the beautiful palace at Samode, a fine blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Following a sightseeing tour and lunch (optional), continue to Delhi. Overnight at the Intercontinental Eros Hotel or similar. (Breakfast)

Day 9 To London: Morning transfer to the airport for a flight to London with Jet Airways. (Breakfast)
